The lungs are such an important part of our body. It’s helps our body move fresh air in while removing waste gases. While learning this fact, my son thought it would be a “cool” project to make a lung model. He was able to create it using household materials. Today we will show you how to do this easy STEM activity.

The following materials are used for the DIY Lung Model:

DIY Lung Model Bendy Straw

Large Straw

Rubber Bands

Small Balloons

Plastic Bottle with cap

Craft Knife

Scissors

Large Balloon

Once you have made the model, have your child breathe into the straw. They will see the balloons, which represent the lungs, contract and expand. Kids will be amazed to know that this is what’s happening inside their bodies.

Below is a step-by-step video on how to make the Lung Model. It comes from my son’s YouTube Channel, Corban’s Fun Learning Adventures. Please like the video and subscribe if it is helpful to you.
