Spring is here! It is my favorite season because it is not too hot or cold. I also love going outside and enjoying the beautiful weather and nature as a whole. Last year, I showed my son a project where he would learn how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He was excited to tackle this challenge. However, last year, it was in the later part of the summer, which is too late to grow butterflies
I was debating on whether to show my son this project because I assumed I would have to touch caterpillars. However, this was not the case at all. Looking back, I am so happy I showed him this project because we had a great and memorable experience.

We used the Insect Lore Butterfly Garden to learn how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. When we first received the caterpillars, they were tiny. However, they quickly grew before our eyes. My son and I enjoyed observing and feeding them fresh fruit. It was amazing to watch them form into chrysalis and transform to butterflies.
When it was time to release the butterflies, it was a bittersweet moment. They became part of our family during the short time they were in our home. We were going to miss them. However, watching them fly out of the habitat was amazing.
My son learned so much. He was able to experience firsthand the wonderful world of nature and science.
The great thing about the Insect Lore Butterfly Garden is you can purchase more caterpillars with the garden you already have. We are planning to grow more butterflies this spring.
We think your kids will LOVE this STEM project. Watch a short video (under two minutes) below of our experience with the Insect Lore Butterfly Garden. In the video, you the see our process for growing the butterflies and releasing them into the world.
