Science experiments that use paper and water are convenient because everyone has these items at home. Today, we will show you how to make a boat that moves in water. It is called a Soap Powered Boat.

You will be amazed at how simple it is to make this boat. Below are the materials you will need…

Dish Soap

Paper

Scissors

Water

When we first saw this experiment, we could not believe how simple it was to do. Immediately my son got the materials and went to work.

After doing the experiment, we were excited that it worked on the first try. My son made multiple boats and had fun trying different boat designs.

The science behind this experiment is soap tension. Soap breaks down the surface tension of water. As this happens, it creates enough force to push the paper boat across the water.

Below is a video showing you how to do the experiment. It comes from my son’s YouTube channel, Corban’s Fun Learning Adventures. Please subscribe if you find the content fun, educational, and helpful!
